Pedersen Dominates in Iowa Exhibition Race

The RCRL Integrity Racing Series held its third exhibition race in as many weeks on Tuesday night as the drivers came out to the Iowa Speedway for 150 laps of racing action. Taking the pole for the event was the #66 of Kevin Mahoney and to his outside in the #36 was Jacob Fyfe. A total of 30 drivers would take the green flag and spread out over the wide 7/8ths of a mile speedway.

Iowa Start

Cautions would hinder the first 50 laps of the event as drivers were attempting to get used to the track and one another. After a slight miscue from Mahoney, Fyfe would take the lead on lap two and hold it through the opening caution periods. The first cautions of the night would take out almost half of the field before most drivers would make their first pit stops of the night leaving around 15 drivers on the lead lap.

 Iowa Restart

Once the green flag came out though a new contender would move his way to the front as Christian Pedersen in the #23 and Mitchell Kelley in the #15 would make their first appearances in the top five respectively. After the first 50 laps green flag racing would take over the rest of the event with a great battle between Fyfe and Pedersen for the lead as well as a another great battle further back for third between Kelley, Ben Catoe in the #13 and last weeks winner Kyle Gimple in the #75. Ultimately Fyfe would lose the top spot to Pedersen as he was able to make the lower lane through turns three and four work more effectively than most competitors throughout the course of the night. During a round of green flag pit stops Fyfe would make one last move to try and come out on top for the night by pitting early. It wouldn’t be enough though as Pedersen exited the pits on lap 62 it only took a few short laps for New England driver to retake the top spot from the #36.

Iowa Battle for Lead

As the race laps drew to a close Pedersen would roll through most of the field leaving only four drivers on the lead lap by the end of the night and win by a substantial margin. Taking the second place position in comfortable fashion would be the #36 of Fyfe and following him in the final podium position was the #15 Goodwrench Silverado of Kelley. Taking home fourth was last week’s winner at Auto Club Kyle Gimple and rounding out the top five and making up the positions from the 27th starting position would be the #32 of John Hastings with an outstanding performance! Iowa Finish Picture
